Athletics First Quarter Update
It was a strong fall for Cyclone Activities. Marching Band received several Division I ratings and had multiple members selected for the All-State Music Festival (both for band and vocal). Cross country saw the girls team qualify for state for the 5th consecutive year. Lindsey Sonderman won several races throughout the season, including repeating as the Hawkeye 10 Champion, and she also finished 6th at the 3A State Meet. Ian Shelton ran an outstanding race at the state qualifier to get into the Top 10 all-time for Cyclone boys cross country but narrowly missed qualifying for state. Volleyball saw seniors Madison Kjergaard and Haley Bladt earn all-conference honors, and the coaching staff saw improvement overall through the freshman, JV and varsity programs. In Girls Swimming, Elaina Vrchoticky qualified for state in the 50 and 100 meter freestyle. She was a 3-time qualifier in her career! In cheerleading, we had three girls qualify for state honor squad: Laney Breyfogle, Zoey Bowers, and Tela Schwery. The football teams have seen great success. They will be playing in the State Championship Game for the third year in a row.
