Large Group Speech Districts 1-21-23

Harlan Community High School Speech Team under the direction of Ms. Lisa Hagemeier competed on 1-21-23 at the Iowa High School Speech Association's large group district competition.  Our team traveled to Thomas Jefferson in Council Bluffs where Daniel Anderson, Laura Seifert, and Anna Blake competed in the category of radio broadcasting. They created a 5-minute radio broadcast that included local and international news, a special interest story, weather, and an original commercial set in 1959.  They used historically accurate news stories to design their broadcast and to weave a cohesive program. After writing their program, they recorded it as though it would be heard through the radio.  Daniel, Laura, and Anna earned a division I rating and will be advancing to the state competition at Waukee High School in Waukee on February 4th.
