Our Writing Selections

As we started our Peter Rabbit unit, we did a lot of reading and notetaking to understand what rabbits in the wild are really like.   We added lists of nouns, adjectives, and -ing words that describe wild rabbits.   Our next step was to write research paragraphs and several different kinds of poems.  Look for the true facts about rabbits that we have included in our work.

Wild Rabbits
Brooke

One of the places where wild rabbits live is the grasslands.  They can run up to 25 mph.   Their teeth are always growing.  Baby rabbits are born deaf, blind, and hairless.  If many cottontails do not die, there could be a population explosion of them.  They eat dandelions, clovers, roots, and more.  Rabbits live on all the continents, but not Antarctica.  I think rabbits are very neat mammals!

Wild Rabbits
Sonoka

There are two different kinds of rabbits - wild rabbits and tame rabbits.   Rabbits have a very short tail and big ears.  Did you know that a rabbit's front teeth never stop growing?  Rabbits live in colonies, warrens, and burrows.  Rabbits are one of my favorite animals.

Wild Rabbits
Britanny

Wild rabbits live on every continent except Antarctica.  Rabbits eat clovers, young trees, and crops.  Their predators are eagles, crows, and buzzards.  When they want attention, they nudge you with their muzzles.  They communicate with scents, body movements, and sounds.  A mother doe can produce 350,000 babies in five years!  Rabbits have eyes on the sides of their heads.  Rabbits are my favorite animals.
